If you think the sun in our solar system is big, guess again. VY Canis Majoris was discovered on March 7th 1801 by French astronomer Jérôme Lalande; it was the first record ever recorded of the star. Even though our sun can fit around one million Earths in it, VY Canis Majoris can fit 9,261,000 suns!
