I feel like just about everybody asks this question at least once in their life. For those of you who for some odd reason, do not know what an introvert or extrovert is, it’s basically something that defines how you socialize in the world. Introverts are independent, quiet, insecure, and reserved while extroverts are outgoing, confident, loud, and prefer to be the center of attention.
This is important information to know because once you understand which one you are, it will be easier to learn how to overcome the negative traits and amplify the positive ones to become a better person.
When I was growing up, I was very introverted. I rarely talked and I barely had any friends. I also mainly worked alone on projects. However, as I grew older, I began to notice how I’ve changed over the years. I began to make more friends and try new things with confidence, yet I still retain most of my introvert traits.
I’m at the point in my life where I’m just in neutral grounds. While I still lean more towards the introvert side, I feel like in certain situations, I become an extrovert. This has always puzzled me until I figured out that a name for the neutral side exists: Ambivert.
Ambiverts are like a mix between both introvert and extrovert and when I figured this out, I feel like I found the answer to all my questions. It sounds cheesy, I know, but I feel like this is who I am. While I did grow up as an introvert, and I still have introverted tendencies, in situations when I’m around my friends or family, or if I’m around good people in general, I become more extroverted.
I feel like this is good information to share because I think there are a lot of people out there who aren’t sure where they stand on the introvert vs extrovert construct. While I can’t predict people’s personality types, I think this could help them figure themselves out somehow.
